The risk of using an unlicensed tanker sits with the property owner as well as the driver. Illegal discharge into storm drains, open ground or the desert carries significant municipal fines and environmental penalties, and it is exactly the practice the emirates have worked to stamp out by building tanker-reception facilities at their treatment plants.
A compliant operator gives you a clear chain of custody: a registered vehicle, a trained crew, and disposal at a named, approved facility. In Dubai that chain is enforced electronically through the RASID system, which tracks tankers by GPS from the collection point to the Jebel Ali plant.

Sewage Tanker Regulations by Emirate
Who regulates sewage collection, and where waste must be discharged, in each of the seven emirates.
Regulated by Dubai Municipality; sewage transport (activity 3700.92) requires RTA approval and RASID-registered, GPS-tracked tankers. Waste is discharged at the approved Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant. Dubai service.
Waste-transport licensing is handled by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD, transferred from Tadweer). Only tankers registered by Abu Dhabi Police may operate, with orientation via TAQA Water Solutions, discharging at ADSSC-approved sites. Abu Dhabi service.
Sharjah Municipality operates a sewerage tanker-discharge facility that receives sewage from areas without a foul-sewer network. A valid sewage tanker discharge permit is required, and access is logged electronically. Sharjah service.
Wastewater is managed by Ajman Sewerage, the UAE’s first PPP sewerage system. Waste from properties not connected to the network is delivered by tanker to the Ajman Sewerage treatment plant. Ajman service.
Wastewater is managed under the emirate Public Services Department, with RAK sewerage services and treatment facilities receiving tankered waste for compliant disposal. RAK service.

How to Verify a Sewage Tanker Is Compliant

The company should hold a valid licence to collect and transport sewage in your emirate — not just a general cleaning trade licence.
In Dubai the vehicle should be RASID-registered; in Abu Dhabi it must be registered by Abu Dhabi Police. Ask which approval the tanker holds.
